Suzanne Neumann wasn’t looking for a career in clean energy when she took an administrative assistant position at The Green Panel 3 years ago, but now she calls herself a convert.

Founded in Brighton, Michigan as a solar company, The Green Panel has grown to provide wind, electrical, and telecommunications services.

While the responsibilities are similar to those of administrative jobs at other companies—from billing to permitting to ordering office supplies—Suzanne is immersed in the clean energy debate on a daily basis. Some customers want to go completely off the grid; others don’t see the value in renewable energy.

“People are fed up with the high costs of utilities,” she says. “It’s important to show people that renewable energy is worth it, that it can help them save money.”

As for Suzanne? She’s currently working on installing solar panels at her own home.
